Custom Milling in Wilmington, NC
In-House Milling Delivers Superior Quality
Whether you are matching an existing profile, adjusting dimensions, or designing something entirely new, our team shapes lumber precisely to your plans, then finishes it ready for the job site.
We Source And Mill Under One Roof
From a single custom moulding run to the millwork for an entire home, our in-house milling turns rough stock into finished, install-ready profiles without sending your project across town.
Because the milling happens under our own roof, we control quality at every step and keep your timeline tight.
Custom Patterns, Designed by Architects
Since establishing our Lumber Remanufacturing division in 1997, Special Wood has produced custom patterns designed by architects – milling the exterior trim and interior moldings that off-the-shelf stock simply cannot match for the finest home builders in the region.
Equipment Built for Precision
Our shop runs ripsaw, resaw, planer, and moulders alongside CNC design technology, operated by dedicated milling and shop specialists. From dimensional adjustments to intricate profile moulding, custom milling is the key to unlocking the full potential of your designs.

We also mill PVC and composites. Architectural-grade beams and exotic woods sourced to order.
"The wood was milled perfectly... I couldn't be happier. From start to finish, this lumber provider went above and beyond. The quality of their wood is outstanding — straight, durable, and carefully selected — and their ability to design and [mill] is impressive."
